Egret or Heron-Shaped Silver Rosewater Sprinkler
The silver rosewater sprinkler in the form of an egret or heron is carved elegantly with detailed and textured feathers. The bird stands upright with a large fish in its mouth; above the fish's mouth is a floral device which acts as the top of the rosewater sprinkler. The bird stands on two tall legs; the clawed feet standing on top of a fish which rests on a circular plaform. See a nearly identical example (Cormorant Rose-water Sprinkler) published in Vidya Dehejia and others, Delight in Design: Indian Silver for the Raj, Mapin Publishing, 2008, p. 148, fig. 57.
