A blackened zinc alloy rectangular box, cover and tray inlaid with silver and decorated with poppies within oval cartouches and border designs; Hindi inscription inside the lid. The name bidri derives from the city of Bidar in Deccan which was the capital of the Bahmani kingdom. The poppy motif was a popular Bidar style in the mid 19th century.
